A reporter for People magazine was arrested for trespassing on Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt's property in Santa Barbara where a birthday party for Angelina Jolie's son Maddox was being held.

According to Pagesix.com, the photographer, Jeffrey Neal Weiss, was caught at around 11.30 a.m. by Pitt's security manager. Cops found a printout of an e-mail in Weiss' car with direction to Pitt's house.

The Santa Barbara Police spokesperson said that the photographer was due in court Sep 8 where charges could be filed or dismissed.

An editor for People magazine said that the photographer "inadvertently trespassed on the beach. He regrets it".

Pitt's publicist said, "It's too bad that the media can't respect people's privacy, If the media continue to trespass on private property, they will be arrested. This is getting out of control."
